Police departments have issued warnings; individuals lurking on their property have creeped out home owners. Even the game itself starts with a warning to pay attention to your environment, a warning it’s impossible to heed when there’s a Pikachu to catch! All of which amounts to annoyance for everyone. For me, the game is the only aspect of the Pokemon phenomena that excites me. I believe they have a half baked storyline full of interesting but extremely limited Pokemon that doesn't make much sense or goes anywhere.
Pokemon is a phenomenon and kids are going crazy over it. Around the core video game, there is a whole solar system of spinoffs: Pokemon plush toys (Pokemon stuffed toys), poke dolls, Pokemon Zuken and Tomy figures, Pokemon cards and a whole multi-category within that such as legendary Pokemon cards, promo cards, and holofoil cards, not to mention the enormous gains being made in the media of Pokemon DVD's, movies, and the TV series. What's it about a computer game that has taken off this enormous? It even has celestial epochs: we are now in the Era of the Pokemon Black and White. But most of the kids buying these goods aren't even really playing the video game itself! That looks to be another happening completely (for Nintendo, number two behind Super Mario).
Now, my son also isn't a huge fan of the storyline; I'm not sure what it's about Pokemon that fascinates him so much (I can not help but believe that kids are infusing their imagination into the storyline and are possibly secret 'trainers,' a modern equivalent to the dragon slayer). In any case, he loves the Pokemon plush toys (plushies or Pokemon stuffed toys) though I am not sure why. Maybe to get a Pokemon stuffed toy would be to kind of capture one with a Pokeball. Regardless, I'm neither a stingy or indulgent parent, which normally means that though he may desire a plushie, he won't get one and ends up settling for cards.
Furthermore, the traffic to APKMirror has come from all around the globe, with the US only accounting for 10.8% of the website's desktop traffic over the last 28 days.
He loves the card game however and will get me to buy him the Pokemon Black and White cards whenever he can. He and his buddies can spend an intense hour or two on card gaming, though they don't look so interested in the console game (that is more up my alley).
In any case, Pokemon is cool and times and tastes have changed. It seems we live in an age in which morals, good, evil, and heroism are much more blurred than we 'simpler' children were. We merely wanted to see the bad guy get it- not monsters fight it out in tournaments. Perhaps kids are more complex today. I do know that as a science fiction buff I do believe Pokemon has possible, though by capitalizing on they'd likely alienate their audience.
When I was the child, Japan was obviously not selling video games, but they were composing and creating cartoon in addition to drama. First, there was Ultraman. The monsters were grotesque, Ultraman himself was a hero but awful too, and it was pure good vs. evil. Creatures came from outer space and Ultraman protected humanity from them. I recall one adorable monster that was the size of the small person and was covered with long strands of odd hair (difficult to explain). But even that monster, though likable, was pretty ugly. My generation is pretty much figured that monsters should be ugly. Pokemon seems like they lack creature hormones or something. Just to mention it, there was additionally Speed Racer (amazing story- who can forget Spridal and Chim Chim- and who was Racer X really?). The Mach 5 was way cool. What little girl wouldn't like that? Ashes can't hold a candlewick to Speed!
My son is ten now, and we live in Japan. As a Mom, I am not overly worried about leaving him alone at the Pokemon Center to window shop for himself. This being Japan. However, I 'm worried about him getting lost in the enormous crowds. I do admit that after 20 minutes I was pretty much going out of my mind, and said to him point blank, "OK, Jojo, time for us to get a move on," but his appearance of misery made it clear that physical prodding and following brooding would be what I 'd have needed to endure to get him out of there.
It is thought that women love to shop, and men do not but that equation does not include kids and hobbyists. Getting my son out of the Pokemon Center, and trusting that he will forget that there is a Pokemon Center, are hopeless prospects. Pokemon is sure a hit.
Outside of the US, users around the world have been trying to download Pokemon GO using an app, bypassing the official app store. Since the app's launch, traffic to apkmirror.com exploded, increasing from just over 600,000 visits on July 5th to over 4 million visits on July 6th.
In total, 30.5% of all desktop search traffic over this period came from searches with the term "Pokemon" in them.
For my middle-aged generation, the attractiveness of Pokemon is a bit challenging for me to get a grasp on. If Pikachu is cute, then why is he capable of such destructive force? And if he's so lethal, then why is he so adorable? But I must retract all that actually, for I can not discover Pokemon in their animated avatar to be either cute or trendy. Maybe for my generation, Pokemon only do not have an allure to us. We can not figure out what they stand for.
So why are these monsters so rare? Most of this list checks out; in the Pokémon games, each legendary fowl, and Mewtwo are only located in particular locations, while Mew is historically one of the most challenging monsters to find and catch. As for Ditto, however, although the Ordinary-type isn't classified as a mythical, it can be tough to find in many of the traditional games. That is due in part to its breeding skills that are distinctive; the Pokémon can mimic and breed with almost any other to reproduce Pokémon. As for where to find them, it's still impossible to say. Pokémon GO PokéStop in Townsend NSW 2463 requires players to travel around the world to find all secrets and its concealed monsters, and with the game still not out in Japan, among other places, devotees may have to continue trying to find a long time before finding any of these rarities. Ripley's Believe It Or Not is hosting a competition for players' coolest finds, so Pokémon out of could be tempted by maybe the allure of $5,000 could tempt concealment.
