That said, it is not my place to tell the world to stop doing what they love. If you need to play, then play. But I, for one, will not.

If a Pokemon appears, you must throw a virtual Poke Ball at it to get it. Then you walk and walk and walk some more to get more Pokemon. Apparently, you sometimes can snitch Pokemon from others and have battles with other users too. That part is over my head.
